What is the difference between 3D, 4D, and 5D HD ultrasound?
At Prenatal Peek, we offer various levels of imaging technology to bring you closer to your baby. 3D ultrasound provides still, three-dimensional images. 4D ultrasound adds the element of time, allowing you to see live motion like yawning or kicking. 5D HD (HDLive) is the latest technology, using advanced lighting and skin-toning software to provide a realistic, high-definition view of your baby’s features.
Is elective 3D/4D ultrasound safe for my baby?
Yes. Prenatal Peek strictly adheres to FDA standards. We use the same ultrasound frequency as your diagnostic medical provider. Ultrasounds have been used safely in prenatal care for over 35 years with no proven side effects. Our sessions are non-diagnostic and focus on bonding and keepsakes.
Can I bring family and friends to my ultrasound session?
Absolutely! We encourage you to bring loved ones to share this special moment. Our San Jose studio features large flat-screen TVs and a comfortable seating area designed specifically for a family-friendly viewing experience.
How soon will I receive my photos and videos?
You won’t have to wait. At Prenatal Peek, your photos and videos are ready less than 5 minutes after your session ends. Depending on your package, you will receive printed color photos, a USB drive with all images, or access through our mobile app.
When is the best time to get a 3D or 4D ultrasound?
The best time depends on your goals:
Early Bonding (16–26 weeks): Great for seeing the baby’s entire body and active movements.
Detailed Facial Features (25–34 weeks): This is the “sweet spot” (specifically weeks 28–32) as the baby has developed more facial fat, resulting in clearer, more recognizable images.
Late Pregnancy (34+ weeks): While possible, images may be harder to capture as the baby has less room to move.
How should I prepare for my Prenatal Peek appointment?
Hydration is key. We recommend drinking plenty of water for several days before your appointment to ensure your amniotic fluid is clear. About 30 minutes before your session, drinking a natural fruit juice can often help wake the baby up so you can see more movement!
At how many weeks can Prenatal Peek determine the baby’s gender?
We can accurately determine gender as early as 15 weeks. If your baby is in a shy position and we cannot determine the gender, we offer a free return visit (within 14 days) to try again!
